Identifying knowledge assets

This seminar is the first of three in the postgraduate course Strategic Management of Research Results.

We will start by reviewing the central concepts of the course, such as “knowledge assets”, “utilisation” and “innovation”. “Professor’s privilege” will be explained, and the rules for secondary employment reviewed. We will introduce tools for identifying and categorising knowledge assets, and you will be given a chance to apply them in practice to your research project. Finally, we will discuss how important it is for you, as a researcher, to control your knowledge assets by highlighting the possibilities that open up as well as what can happen if you fail to take control.
